Dr. Burke's research program focuses on interpersonal and health communication processes (e.g., social support, social influence, conflict) and health within romantic and family relationships. She also studies potential health implications of communication deficits, manifested as poor communication skills, loneliness and social anxiety. She has a strong background in social scientific research methods and uses a variety of quantitative data analysis techniques in her research. Dr. Burke has presented her research at national and international conferences, and her research appears in peer-reviewed journals including, Health Communication, Journal of Family Communication, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships and Communication Monographs, to name a few. Her research has also been featured on relationship blogs, in the Wall Street Journal and on The Today Show.
